The flying pin test is one of the methods used to check the electrical performance of a PCB. The flying needle test uses four to eight independently controlled probes that move to the element under test. The unit under test (UUT) is conveyed to the test machine by belt or other UUT transmission system. Then fix the probe of the test machine to contact the test pad (test pad) and the access hole (VIA) to test the individual components in the test cell (UUT). The test probe connects the actuators (signal generator, power supply, etc.) and sensors (digital multimeter, frequency counter, etc.) to test the components on the UUT via a multiplexing system. While one component is being tested, the other components on the UUT are shielded electrically by the probe to prevent reading interference. Flying needle testing for general samples and small batches of PCB boards can reduce the cost of manufacturing test racks, thus reducing the time of manufacturing test racks and shortening the lead time.
Traditional online test is another batch PCB test method. Test materials need to be prepared in advance and sent to the supplier of the test rack to make the test rack. Each product model has a corresponding test rack, and then the test rack is fixed on the test machine to start the on-off test. This test method is fast and generally used for batch PCB board testing.
